Training Days 2014 for RMOUG starts in just TWO days.  Tim and I have picked up Jonathan Lewis and Pete Sharman this weekend, the flurry of speakers will be arriving in the next couple days.  With the fantastic help of Team YCC, we have an incredible conference planned for everyone!  If you haven’t downloaded the Guidebook mobile app from the App store or Play store, do so, as you can’t miss out on this great application to make the most of the conference.  You can build your schedule,  read up on Speaker/exhibitor bios, keep up with all the going on’s at the conference and connect with speakers and attendees!

  • We have a system where we define alerts on mount point getting full rather than tablespaces getting full as these alerts dont include aut extend on and are sometime deceptive. In our system we have datafiles which can grow max to 25g including autoextend on , can some provide me a query / script or alert to be set in oem which could give accurate alerts or mails on tablespaces getting full at around 95% including the autoextend on.

    We have a 12c OEM and 10g and 11g databases. Can you provide the steps in OEM to set the tablespace thresholds including autoextend on or does the OEM tablespace already considers autoextend on and then send an alert on x% full.

  • I would definitely utilize the thresholds in the EM12c over scripting it out and yes, it does take auto-extend into consideration in notifications and incident management. Build monitoring templates and use groups to ensure that you are using the same monitoring at all times, with this, then set your thresholds for the template for tablespaces for critical at the percentage or MB limits that are important to you. You can even set this per tablespace on specific databases and set the threshold so it can’t be overwritten by the template.
