Silk Sync, August 2023
Here is what’s going on for me at Silk for the month of August!
I’ve served in the role as Director of Technical Advocacy at Silk for just over 2 months. It’s been a productive months, helping out with Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL and other workloads on Azure and Google Cloud interested in running with Silk. I love the energy from each of the teams at the company and enjoy the opportunity to contribute to all the different aspects of the business here.
I want to thank the sales teams for keeping me engaged. I also would like to curse switching to a Mac to then have to run SLOB tests on Oracle my second week out with the company. I don’t think I realized the switch, (done to force me to keep my workstation knowledge up to date) would be so challenging. Someday I may learn not to do this type of thing…:)
August 23rd I’ll be presenting a session with the Oracle Tech Lounge. I’ll be speaking on HA and DR in Azure when architecting Oracle.
I’ll be speaking on High IO workloads with SQL Server on Oct. 14th at Boston’s SQL Saturday.
I’ve signed on to do the keynote for Oregon Data Saturday on Nov. 11th. The topic of the keynote this year will be “Adapting and Thriving: Navigating the Intersections of AI, Machine Learning, and Economic Challenges as a Technical Specialist”.
I’ve been added to the Women in Tech Panel at PASS Summit this year!
I think that’s enough variety for awhile, but hey, stay tuned, I have some exciting news to share from me! Just know that my ADHD brain will not be bored!
